Copywriting agency in Singapore, Proof Perfect, is the first and longest-standing copywriting agency in Singapore. Run by founder Ange Dove, Proof Perfect has been delivering copywriting services for MNCs, SMEs and government agencies for over 20 years but is now venturing into training.

"I very much see my role transitioning into the training environment, uplevelling the skills of copywriters in Singapore and supporting working professionals who want to run their own business," says Ange of the expansion. "Proof Perfect will serve as it always has, as a done-for-you service for our corporate and SME clients, but also now for my coaching and training clients."

Services at Proof Perfect have traditionally included copywriting and design for annual reports, websites, landing pages, lead magnets, newsletters, email marketing, video scripts - all writing that supports the marketing campaigns of Proof Perfect's clients.

The company has always moved with the times and harnessed technology as it has developed. It all started when home computers became a thing and Ange realised she could deliver writing services for clients from home. The small fact that she didn't know how to add an attachment to an email wasn't going to stop her! It was a different time.

"I wanted to work from home so I could help look after my two babies at the time," Ange explains. "My husband and I had become ships that passed in the night as we juggled raising the kids around our work schedules, with me finishing my teaching job at 4 pm and rushing home to take over babysitting duties as my husband left for work. Not ideal."

And so the (unplanned) venture into entrepreneurship began as Ange fitted out the spare room to be her home office and started offering her copywriting services.

"I had no plans of starting a copywriting agency in Singapore," she recalls, "or any business at all for that matter. I just wanted to work from home."

But her plans (or lack thereof) were scuppered when business picked up rapidly and Ange found herself with more projects than she could handle alone and still manage admin and client servicing for the business. She had to hire staff to help. And that meant giving up the work-from-home life and renting an office.

Before she knew it, she was running a copywriting agency with 10 staff out of a quaint 3-storey shophouse in Singapore.

"They were good times," says Ange, "but I constantly had my eyes on technology as it progressed. Google came along and changed the marketing game and we had to move with that and adapt to online marketing and changing client demands. The Cloud opened up really exciting opportunities, and apps were suddenly available to help manage all aspects of a growing business."

The tech continued to improve and address the needs of agencies like Proof Perfect. Ange moved with the times and as soon as the technology allowed, in 2017 she was back based at home, running her business entirely on the Cloud, long before the pandemic forced businesses into the same business model.

"It's taken a long time for businesses to catch up," says Ange, "and see business from a different perspective now that technology has freed people from a permanently office-bound work environment."

Looking at the next wave of change, as copywriting has developed into a full-time corporate role and AI writing technology services cash-poor SMEs in content production, Ange sees the next gap in the market.

"There is a plethora of copywriters and copywriting agencies in Singapore," Ange observes, "but not all are skilled enough or able to service the clients in the way they need to.

"Copywriting is much more than simply being able to write using correct grammar. That should be a given, at the very minimum. But an understanding of marketing, psychology around what motivates people to buy and research skills are essential for copywriters. I have clients coming to me today to rescue their copywriting projects after they've been burned by bad service and unskilled writers not up to the role. I want to change that."

So in addition to running her copywriting agency in Singapore, today Ange also trains people how to write copy as well as how to set up and run a knowledge-based business from anywhere, just as she has been doing over the last six years.

Her babies, all grown up now at 25 and 24 years of age, have started to help mum in the running of Proof Perfect and building the training arm of Proof Perfect, MarketSmart Learning Hub. From there Ange offers brands Work From Anywhere and My Business Launchpad, as well as Value Copywriter Academy (an new online and class-based training solutions for indivuals and corporations).
